Proposal: No online ad targeting for sensitive health conditions

Proposal: No online ad targeting for sensitive health conditions

Sensitive health conditions, including AIDS, cancer, and erectile
dysfunction, are among the subjects that may be blocked from online ad
targeting. New proposed guidelines from the Network Advertising
Initiative trade group would limit behavioral targeting, reports The New
York Times. The proposal aims to identify sensitive subjects that
advertising companies should not keep track of. Among them are HIV/AIDS
status, sexually related conditions, psychiatric conditions, and cancer
status.
